What is happening with Starbucks and labor unions?

Our partners are at the heart of our business and we are committed to providing everyone who wears the green apron with a bridge to a better future.

Starbucks offers the highest wages and employee benefits in the industry to all eligible employees. This includes an average wage of $18.50 per hour, comprehensive health insurance, access to stock ownership and matching retirement contributions. On February 27, 2024, Starbucks announced a commitment with Workers United to a constructive and mutually respectful follow-up process toward the interests of all Starbucks partners. The agreement to initiate discussions is intended to achieve approved collective bargaining agreements for the represented partners, a resolution of disputes, and a fair labor organizing process.

Last year, the company entered into a third collective bargaining agreement with the United Steelworkers union in Canada, and negotiations are ongoing with other represented coffee shops in that country.
